Griffiths Marshall just keeps on growing!

Whilst 2016 was an ‘interesting’ year on many fronts, creating lots of uncertainty for businesses and individuals alike, Griffiths Marshall bucked that trend with a raft of new staff joining the firm in the past few months.

Whilst 2016 was an ‘interesting’ year on many fronts, creating lots of uncertainty for businesses and individuals alike, Griffiths Marshall bucked that trend with a raft of new staff joining the firm in the past few months.

The teams across both the Gloucester and Lydney offices have been bolstered with the arrival of four trainee accountants. Ollie Dean, Josh Thomson, Georgina Hurran and Keiran McMullan all joined the firm during the summer. We’re also delighted to welcome Yvonne Wright and Nick Ashfield into admin and technical roles in our Gloucester office.

Ollie, who’s based in the Gloucester office, has previous experience of working in accountancy practices and as an accountant in a local business. He is currently studying for his Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) exams which he hopes to complete in February. During work time he supports the accounts team with the preparation of client accounts. Outside of work he enjoys playing football and visiting friends and family.

Josh works alongside Ollie in the Gloucester office and is also studying for his AAT exams. His work responsibilities see him helping with the preparation of accounts, carrying out bank reconciliations and assisting with client working papers. In his spare time he’s a bit of a film buff and plays football occasionally.

Georgina is based in the Lydney office and along with Ollie and Josh is studying for her AAT exams. In addition to helping out with accounts preparation work, Georgina also helps out with a variety of admin duties in the Lydney office. Outside of work she likes playing the piano and listening to music and socialising with friends and family.

Kieran comes to Griffiths Marshall with over 5 years of accountancy experience. He has already passed his AAT exams and is currently studying for his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants exams. Kieran supports the firm’s bookkeeping department helping to process accounts information and VAT returns and also liaises with HMRC on VAT related issues on behalf of clients. When he’s not studying for his exams he likes swimming.

We’re also delighted that Yvonne Wright has joined us as our receptionist/administrator in the Gloucester office. Yvonne initially joined us as a temp back in September, but after a couple of days we recruited her on a permanent basis. Yvonne is likely to be one of the first people you meet or speak with when you visit or ring the Gloucester office. As well as being our receptionist she also carries out a range of admin duties including handling correspondence for the partners. Having only recently moved into the area, Yvonne spends a lot of her spare time decorating and gardening at her new house and getting to know the locals.

Our most recent employee is Nick Ashfield. Nick joined the practice on 1 December and his role is to support the partners with a range of IT, HR, legal and client based duties. Having initially trained to become a solicitor, Nick has since transferred into the accountancy sphere and is studying to become a qualified accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Alongside his practice-wide support duties he is also working with clients and getting involved with the accounts and tax departments. Nick’s hobbies are walking his dog and he is also a qualified PADI rescue diver. One day, when he’s not studying accountancy, he’d like to learn Spanish and take up playing the piano again.

We’d like to welcome all our recent new starters to Griffiths Marshall, we’re delighted to have you on the team!
