Team GM were delighted to host another Golf Day on 22 September 2023, in support of the Pied Piper Appeal and Emily's Gift, held once again at the beautiful Forest Hills Golf Club in Coleford. Fourteen teams signed up to take part, and following coffee and a bacon bap they all headed off to find their appropriate tee for the shotgun start. We were very lucky with the weather, and although it was cold the golf course looked glorious in the crisp autumnal sunshine.
Once finished, the players reconvened for a well-earned hot lunch and drinks, which included a celebration of player Lee Hanson achieving a hole in one!
GM's director Greg Lewis took to the floor to thank everyone for coming, and invited Julie Kent MBE to say a few words about Emily's Gift, a campaign in her late daughter's name to raise funds for providing psychological support to children with cancer in Gloucestershire. Nick Broady, Chair of Pied Piper, also explained how our donations to the Pied Piper charity are used and why fundraising events like our Golf Day are so important.
First prize went to the Tayntons All Stars, whose team comprised Chris Price, Rob Sharpe, Ian Price and Steve Price. And to prove it wasn't a fix that GM directors Ian and Steve won, they donated their prizes to the charity raffle! Second prize went to Nick Broady's team, Avenue Cars of Gloucester, and third prize was awarded to Acorn Business Finance.
There were also prizes for Longest Drive (won by Joe Ballinger) and Nearest the Pin (won by Nick Broady).
Thanks to the sale of multiple Mulligan's Vouchers, as well as hundreds of raffle tickets (we had to buy a second book!), we are delighted that the final total topped out at £5,000 which will go directly towards both the Pied Piper Appear and Emily's Gift. It was a great day, and huge thanks go to everyone who helped to make it such a success.
